About the Artist

Picture
Hi!  I'm Nikki (but you can call me Cricket).  I’m the artist behind The Artful Cricket Henna Studio & Gift Gallery, and I’ve been working with natural henna for almost 25 years. What began as a love for the art itself grew into something deeper — a desire to create a space where creativity, care, and rest can exist together.

Henna has always been more than decoration to me. It’s a slow, intentional art form that asks both the artist and the recipient to pause, breathe, and be present. In a world that moves quickly and demands constant output, that kind of stillness feels increasingly rare — and increasingly necessary.

Why Henna, and Why Here
I believe adornment should be celebratory, not corrective.
So many women move through their days managing responsibilities, making decisions, and holding space for others. We’re taught to push through discomfort, ignore our own needs, and “fix” ourselves along the way. Henna offers a different invitation — one of noticing, honoring, and gently celebrating the body you live in right now.

At The Artful Cricket, henna isn’t rushed or treated as a novelty. It’s offered with care, cultural respect, and attention to detail, using all-natural, chemical-free henna paste and a calm, unrushed approach.

The Studio Philosophy
The Artful Cricket was created for those folks who carry a lot.  This is a space for people who:
  • Are thoughtful and values-driven
  • Appreciate craft, culture, and ethical choices
  • Want self-care that feels meaningful, not performative
  • Are looking for connection without noise or pressure
Whether you come alone, with friends, or as part of a special event, the goal is the same: to offer an experience that feels grounding, restorative, and genuinely cared for.

Experience & Approach
With decades of experience, my approach blends:
  • Hand-drawn artistry
  • A deep respect for the cultural roots of the practice
  • An understanding of how art can support emotional and mental well-being
Every design is created specifically for the person receiving it. There are no templates, no assembly lines — just attentive listening, skilled hands, and time set aside for you.

Rooted in Community
The Artful Cricket is proud to be located in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls, serving clients throughout the Greater Akron area and Northeast Ohio.

Community matters to me — supporting other small businesses, offering experiences that bring people together, and creating a space where people feel welcome exactly as they are.

An Invitation

If you’re craving an hour that belongs only to you --
or a more meaningful way to spend time with people you care about --
I’d love to welcome you into the studio.
